Literary fiction author Kristel Thornell chats about her latest novel, The Sirens Sing, plus what winning the Vogel Literary Award did for her career, international writing residencies and how to perfect voice in a novel.
Kristel Thornell was born in Sydney and has since lived in Italy, Canada, Finland, the United States and now France.
In 2011, Kristel was named as one of the Sydney Morning Herald’s Best Young Australian Novelists. Her debut novel Night Street, co-won the 2009 Australian / Vogel Literary Award and won the 2011 Dobbie Literary Award, the 2010 Barbara Ramsden Award and was shortlisted for many more.
She has since released On the Blue Train, as well as her latest novel, The Sirens Sing.
