Meg Caddy: A decade in the making

Author of YA novels Waer and Devil's Ballast, Meg Caddy, discusses how writing a book is like running a marathon and how sometimes it takes a full rewrite to hit the jackpot.

Meg is a self-described bespectacled, asexual, non-binary, D&D geek. She lives with three rescue cats (Captain, Lieutenant, and Admiral) and an ever-expanding bookshelf.

Her 2016 novel Waer was shortlisted for the Text Prize and the Children's Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Award, and her 2019 novel Devil's Ballast was shortlisted for the Readings YA Book Prize.

Meg has just signed a contract with Text Publishing for her third book, Slipping the Noose.

She is currently writing a PhD on queer representation in Australian historical fiction.
