Night Parrot Press: Publishing flash fiction

Based in WA, Night Parrot Press publishes non-traditional works of fiction and non-fiction, with a big focus on experimental forms and genres outside of the mainstream.


They are particularly fond of flash fiction, prose poetry, creative non-fiction, hybrid works and stories that leave a strong, colourful, and unforgettable impression.


Laura Keenan and Linda Martin are the co-publishers and editors of Night Parrot Press. In Episode 43 of Writers off the Page, they share their tips for writing a memorable piece of flash fiction.


Night Parrot Press is currently accepting submissions for their third anthology of flash and microfiction. The publication will be released in October at a special launch event at the Australian Short Story Festival in Perth. Submissions are open to West Australian writers 18 years and older who may submit up to 3 stories, each 500 words or less. The deadline for entries is 4 April 2022.
